Graduate and School Leavers Marketing Data

The Utilities Industry is set to target thousands of students, graduates and school leavers.

Recent news on Budget changes is set to encourage investment in North Sea oil and gas exploration projects; as a result there is a need for a strong recruitment drive.

“A further 10,000 employees are needed in the industry in the short term and thousands more in years to come” says Alison Spice of Opito- the learning and workforce development body for the oil and gas industry.

Opito has recently launched a new website for school leavers, graduates and people who want to move/retrain for work within the gas and oil industry – . It details all apprenticeship schemes open for trainees – applications are open up to April 20th.

Engineers are in huge demand for both the gas and oil industry and for companies that supply suitably qualified individuals- fields including exploration and energy efficiency.

Recruitment is not restricted to engineers and technicians, as finance graduates are also required for an immediate start. Open graduate schemes also encompass supply chain and distribution, sales, marketing and more.

The financial rewards available in gas and oil are significantly higher than average. Graduates can hope to earn salaries in the region of £18K to £30K whilst director’s packages rise as high as £120,000.

With regular media coverage of the flailing economy and the ongoing struggle for employment, it is welcoming news to hear that an industry such as the utilities market has a great demand and appetite for employment – more so the fact that its focus remains on school leavers and the under 25’s.
